Several Families from Northminster recently participated in the Appalachian
Service Project. The focus of the trip, besides just providing
needed home repairs, was to build relationships and friendships with
families and people in the area and to understand a culture
different from our own. Spending time each day with the family and
sharing our noon time meal was part of their work day. These
families (including 8 adults, 3 teenagers, and 4 children) worked
with 3 separate families on various home repair jobs, including
roofing, gutters, building safer stairs, painting, siding, jacking
up a home for safety, and new construction on a handicap home in the
area.
